This era in the United Kingdom.

Characters:

Geiger- A professional torturer with a buried past and a gift for extracting the truth at any cost. A man with no boundaries. Except one: never work on a child.

Ezra- a twelve-year-old boy hiding a dangerous secret. An innocent child thrown into an adults’ game of cat and mouse. He has nowhere to run and hide, and no hope of protection. Except Geiger.

Henry- Geiger’s partner. Has a mentally ill sister. Desires to end his sister’s life but fails in the end. Ends up grieving for his sister’s death.

Summary:

Geiger has a gift: he knows a lie the instant he hears it. And in his business—called “information retrieval” by its practitioners—that gift is invaluable, because truth is the hottest thing on the market.

Geiger’s clients count on him to extract the truth from even the most reluctant subjects. Unlike most of his competitors, Geiger rarely sheds blood, but he does use a variety of techniques—some physical, many psychological—to push his subjects to a point where pain takes a backseat to fear. Because only then will they finally stop lying.

One of Geiger’s rules is that he never works with children. So when his partner, former journalist Harry Boddicker, unwittingly brings in a client who demands that Geiger interrogate a twelve-year-old boy, Geiger responds instinctively. He rescues the boy from his captor, removes him to the safety of his New York City loft, and promises to protect him from further harm. But if Geiger and Harry cannot quickly discover why the client is so desperate to learn the boy’s secret, they themselves will become the victims of an utterly ruthless adversary.

Reviews:

No comments. Why? Because this book is EPIC, compelling and exciting. No words could describe it. It’s full of gore and blood. The plot is wicked and gruesome. The torturing method used by Geiger in this book is interesting and attracts my attention. It teaches us how fear plays tricks with the mind, thus, making it a partly educational book as well. This is an absolutely engrossing book! 10 stars for this book!

A good dose of slash. The story was highly engaging and, while occasionally fairly violent, should be one that most fans of suspense and thrillers should enjoy.

Precisely. That’s why it isn’t a book i would recommend to the weak. It takes much courage for one to actually imagine the scenes in this book. With blood and remnants splattered everywhere, most people wouldn’t even dare to touch this book.

Comment : This book is very different from my usual reading material. It has a rather morbid side to it, and the violence was unexpectedly interesting, keeping me on my toes for most of the story. The fact that the methods of torture are somewhat realistic makes it more digestible for me. I enjoyed the read but wouldn’t suggest this book for the faint of heart.

This is some rather peculiar book. The dreams of an oblivious girl turned awry. Who would have guessed I fell in love with this short novel? It’s simple to read, and by that, I mean it’s really simple to comprehend. The sentences are short, the vocabularies used aren’t all that deep and difficult to understand. For novices of English novels, I would recommend this book to you. I assure you it is a really good book to read with much romance and mystique dreams.

A lovely book with much gore and torture devices. I’m quite fazed with the way Geiger treats the boy. From the manner he treats him, we know that human are capable of feeling sympathy and concern over people, no matter how bad the situation is. This is a very knowledgeable book. I’ve did a few researches on torture devices and I am quite impressed at how they made me feel sick to the stomach.

Firstly, readers that love thrillers will definitely like this book. It is above average and the plot is really interesting. Geiger has a peculiar personality which makes him different from other people. The manner he uses to manipulate his victims or clients is really impressive. It is as if he could read our minds. He is mysterious, yet dangerous. And that, is what fascinates me the most.

This book is too grotesque for me. Apparently, Geiger has been impassive and stoic since his childhood or teenage years. It’s funny to see how people change occasionally from a small incident. However, I do like the way he plays with other people’s mind and tricking them into revealing the truth. I also get a clearer view of how people act when they’re lying or under stress. Moreover, the title suits Geiger very well.

Seriously, I have absolutely no comments for this book. It’s just too fabulous! Despite being a professional torturer, he still ahs a soft spot for kids. This just shows that he is not a cold, heartless man. I love how the book shows the way Geiger tortures his victims in the most interesting ways you can think of. Sure, some parts of it will gross you out, but overall the book is just amazing. 200 marks for “The Inquisitor”!!!
