When the shocked couples return home, they remain in contact, and over the course of three increasingly fraught dinner parties they come to know one another better. But they don’t always like what they find: buried beneath these apparently normal exteriors are some dark secrets, hidden kinks, ugly vices… Then, a second girl goes missing. Could it be that one of these six has a secret far darker than anybody can imagine?

Review:

Rush of Blood by Mark Billingham is nice to read. It shows the love and care of a mother to a child, and what desperateness to lead a person to the wrong path of life. Love could lead to death and danger too. Love is truly a fatal object. The plot twist at the end of the story is unexpected. I have had suspicions about the killer and everybody seems like a suspect to me as they have no actual alibis to anything. Their idiosyncrasies are what makes them a suspect too. We must never cheat on our partners. We too, must learn how to control our obsessions, or else it’ll lead us to undesirable consequences.  There are a lot or characters in this book and readers would get confused sometimes.

Comment : This book might have put me off of making friends with random strange couples. The fact that most of the characters seem particularly harmless makes the truth all the more disconcerting. I didn’t particularly enjoy much of the book as it was in my opinion a little too morbid. Still, it proved interesting and has a nice vocabulary.

Kidnap – the greatest crimes of history. Even now, it’s still one of the most occurred crimes in the world. Kids nowadays aren’t aware of their surrounding. Is it the lack of parenthood? Or do we need to put the blame on ourselves? But of course, this book has an excellent plot twist in the end. It had my heart beating rapidly as I neared the end. This is a really interesting book, in my opinion. I would highly suggest the book to my friends.

What’s creepier than kidnap? A psychopathic woman you have no idea you’re married to. Firstly, the story started plain and dull with a few adults going on a vacation. Then, there’s a kidnap. Then there are the assumptions and blames. Oh yes, that’s what everybody does – assuming. The innocent are to be blames while the guilty ones are to be freed. That’s the problem we’re facing. Justice should be served instead of neglecting it. No wonder the world is facing so many problems. Without justice, the world will never be at peace.

The story started off boring at first, just as the above comment has stated. But soon afterwards, the story built up and took hold of my attention. Initially, I was about to give up reading the novel until somewhere around the middle, it captured my attention. Soon, I was absorbed by the plot and how everybody was comparing one with another. It’s really sad to see how humans live in misery without any aid from their close ones. We all know that it will lead to something horrifying eventually. It’s never too late to seek help.

No offence, but I think the book turned out to be one of the cliché storybooks. Three couples that are strangers to each other met, they became good friends, they had a spontaneous time together and then something happened, they started doubting each other… The book is just predictable. Nevertheless, it is still a good read. It talks about love. Love is indeed powerful and destructive. This is why we must always be careful of whom we give our hearts to as the wise people always say: “Love is blind”.
