Summary:

Gretchen Lowell is still on the loose. These days, she’s more of a cause célèbre than a feared killer, thanks to sensationalist news coverage that has made her a star. Her face graces magazine covers weekly and there have been sightings of her around the world. Most shocking of all, Portland Herald reporter Susan Ward has uncovered a bizarre kind of fan club, which celebrates the number of days she’s been free.

Archie Sheridan hunted her for a decade, and after his last ploy to catch her went spectacularly wrong, remains hospitalized months later. When they last spoke, they entered a détente of sorts—Archie agreed not to kill himself if she agreed not to kill anyone else. But when a new body is found accompanied by Gretchen’s trademark heart, all bets are off and Archie is forced back into action.

Reviews:

In this third installment to the Gretchen Lowell series, Chelsea Cain’s novel continues to surprise me. This is an enjoyable book. Gretchen and Archie never fail to amaze me. With Archie’s superb thinking skills, Gretchen’s exciting torments and Susan’s childish attributes, the story keeps moving and its hard to put it down. This story keeps you guessing till the end. A good read.

Comment : I have immense interest in how a person could be a murderer and yet still have an appealing demeanor. Still the plot of the story captured my attention right from the beginning and with Archie back into business I felt it was worth the read. The speed at which the book progressed was not too fast and surprisingly I could keep up with it. Great read!

Reading the synopsis, all I could think of was how Archie could get away from Gretchen. The story seems romantic enough to captivate my attention. Even though suspense romance isn’t my cup of tea, I would be more than happy to give the book a go. Gretchen amazes me. The way she treats Archie specially like nobody else intrigues me. And by that, I mean I really want to try that book. Hopefully it would be a good read.

“Wow” is the only word I could think of after reading this novel. It’s something new and entirely different from all the cliché stories I tend to read. It’s rather exciting and gory at the same time. Gretchen sure does have a variation of torturing method in her mind. And I must say, it actually chills me to the core at times when I read it. But, overall, I could give this book a five star as it’s easy to understand and the story plot is exhilarating.

Some just do not know how long I have been waiting for this book! Chelsea Cain’s work continues to amaze me to no end. Although I’m an absolute chicken when it comes to murder and torture, I still can’t put this book down. I love the way Archie’s brain works. I mean, come on, who can link all the dots that seem so different together into a convincing theory? With much suspense in the book, one will not be able to put it down until they finish reading. Keep up the good work, Chelsea!

As the above review has stated, this is one of the coolest books I’ve ever read. It’s fun, exciting, something out of the blue for me. The way Archie tries to run away from Gretchen is really amusing yet scary at the same time. Gretchen is one of a kind. She knew she has the power to control Archie yet Archie, the strong-willed officer, refuse to be beguiled. Truly amazing book!
